Risks
It is impossible to give a 100% guarantee of success in medicine. However with the refractive surgery procedures in use today, the risk of serious complications such as are present with any medical procedure is considered slight but cannot be completely excluded.
Generally speaking, over-, under- and wrong corrections may occur with all refractive surgery procedures. These may call for a second refractive procedure, but they are usually capable of rectification. Only rarely will a reduction in visual acuity be experienced.
Undesirable side effects may be experienced during treatment with drugs. To prevent any problems, regular postoperative checks are carried out and the medication changed or stopped if the need arises.
The risk of becoming blind as a result of a procedure of this type is virtually impossible but cannot be ruled out.
The choice of the right operation method, treatment by experienced surgeons, careful attention to and correct carrying out of the post-operative treatment instructions by the patient are the best prerequisites for a positive outcome.
